WHAT WE SEE IS WHAT WE GET ?
DESCRIPTION
Efficiency - file sizes and data transfer through the system affect the results of your work. To ensure that the work flow is as efficient as possible it is important to know your printer and its maximum resolution. Reduce your file size and all image resolution whenever possible.
Prepare an A3 test page for printing on the plotter and printer. The test page will be your reference for future when you will print your projects for reviews or submissions. This page should contain:
- 10 no. lines of varied lineweights, beginning with 0.01 mm
- 10 no. blocks of text of different sizes, beginning with 1 pt or 1 mm
- 4 samples of the same colour image at 4 different resolutions: 72, 150, 200, 300 dpi
- 4 samples of rasterized AutoCAD drawings at 4 different resolutions: 72, 150, 200, 300 dpi
- place some elements at the very edge of the page to learn about the printer marigins
- after printing hand write your conclusion: the thinest possible lineweihgt, smallest text, minimum resolution for colour images and rasterized hard-line drawings, the size of marigins.
METHODS
Illustrator - test page layout, lineweights, texts
Photoshop - resizing, cropping images
AutoCAD - exporting dwg to eps or pdf
